AKMETA · A TOOL BY APPLYKIT
A photo can reveal where you were. A document can reveal who created it. See the hidden details before you share.

LOCAL FILE CLEANING
Select one file, up to 20 MB. Processing takes place on your device. Your original is unchanged.
Legacy DOC cleaning is experimental and removes summary properties only. Signed, macro-enabled and encrypted documents are rejected.
Choose a file to begin.
Review the downloaded file before sharing. Removing metadata does not remove visible personal information.
All processing code is served from this site. No file contents are sent to a server by AKMeta. The file-cleaning worker has network access disabled by Content Security Policy.
This is a verification method, not an independent audit or a monitor of all browser traffic. Your browser extensions and hosting sign-in are outside the file processor.
Local libraries: pdf-lib 1.17.1, JSZip 3.10.1, SAX XML parser. No analytics or advertising scripts.
THE WORKFLOW
One focused utility, with a clear view of what changes.
Select a supported file and see the metadata AKMeta can detect.
Remove supported metadata, then inspect the cleaned copy to check the result.
Download a separate copy. Review its visible content before sending it.
VISIBLE PRIVACY
AKMeta processes supported files inside your browser. Its file processor does not upload file contents to a server. Each format has a defined cleaning scope, explained in your cleaning report.
Selected files and cleaned copies stay in browser memory. Clear the workspace to release them. No files are saved to an application database.
Removing metadata does not erase names, faces, addresses, or other information visible in a file. It is not document redaction.
PDF: document information and XMP. Office: document property parts; legacy DOC: summary property values. JPEG: EXIF/XMP and most application segments. PNG: text, EXIF and time. WebP: EXIF/XMP. No independent security audit has been completed.
Metadata describes a file. Depending on the format, it may include a location, camera model, author, creation date, or editing software.
Choose PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB. Signed and encrypted files are rejected. Legacy DOC cleaning is experimental; review the cleaned copy in Word. The hero example uses fictional data.
Removal coverage depends on the file format. The cleaning report explains what it checks, what it removes, and what may remain. A clean metadata report is not a guarantee that a file contains no personal information.
